READ WHAT FIRE FIGHTERS SAY ABOUT JANESVILLE® TURNOUTS

Collier VFD
The turnouts fit great and are lightweight and very comfortable. We made the decision to not purchase any other turnouts besides Janesville® after just wearing it to one emergency call. The thermal and moisture protection is beyond any other turnout on the market today. Thanks for a great product and keep up the good work.

Excellent gear, we have been using this gear for 15 years. We switched from Janesville once and won't change again.

This letter is to let you know how awesome Lion Apparel Protective Clothing recently held up at a building fire in Lewisville, Texas.

On March 11, 2007, the Lewisville Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire approximately five blocks from Lewisville Firehouse 1.  Units reported heavy smoke showing while enroute, and upon arrival checked on-scene with a single-family dwelling fire, which had fire and smoke coming from the attic over the garage.  As companies went to work, the inside team from Truck 161, consisting of Captain Chris Kirk and Firefighter Rick Donoghue initiated search and rescue.

I would like to thank you for your excellent product that you make. My fire department currently uses your Janesville® line of turnout gear, and on last Sunday that was the only thing that saved my life.

My engine crew responded to a chimney fire with smoke showing coming out of the eves of the house. The temperature outside was -10°F with a wind-chill of -22°F. My crew proceeded to go to the attic of the house to investigate the fire. While I was in the attic, the floor below me flashed over, meaning that everything on the floor combusted at around 1000°F. Then all the flames ventilated into the attic where I was. Having my only exit blocked by fire, I had no choice but to jump through the flames with the hopes of getting out safely. I did just that. I jumped through the attic and through the flames and landed about 9 feet below me. Even though I landed in flames that were on the floor below me, I managed to escape. I escaped with no burns what so ever, and to this I thank you. Your gear protected my at temperatures around 1000°F while going through flames. If this happened just 20 years ago, I would have surely died. It is amazing that I was not more injured but, thanks to you wonderful product, I am still here today.

I know you make tens of thousands of sets of gear each year. I thought you would like to know that what you make is greatly appreciated by the men and women that depend on it every day.

Thanks,

I like the flexibility of the coat and pants. That is important in a structure fire.
